CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Miami is self-imposing a postseason ban for the second straight year in response to a lengthy and ongoing NCAA investigation into the school's compliance practices.
University officials announced the decision Monday morning, shortly before the Hurricanes (6-5) started practice for what now is their season-finale at Duke this weekend.

Miami's decision effectively ends the ACC's Coastal Division race; Georgia Tech will play Florida State for the ACC crown and an Orange Bowl berth.
By self-imposing another ban, Miami is hoping to lessen the hit of any looming sanctions that could be handed down by the NCAA. It's surely a disappointment for the Hurricanes, since Miami still had a chance to win the Atlantic Coast Conference championship.
The Yellow Jackets (6-5, 5-3 in ACC play) are appearing in their first ACC Championship game since 2009, when they downed Clemson, 39-34 in a victory that had to be later vacated.
The ACC Championship Game is scheduled for Saturday, December 1 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
Georgia Tech closes its regular season Saturday against number 3-ranked Georgia in Athens.
