ATLANTA -- NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell says Atlanta needs a new stadium to keep up with other NFL cities and make a serious bid for hosting a Super Bowl.
The commissioner will meet with Governor Nathan Deal, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and other city leaders on Monday to discuss plans for a retractable roof stadium to replace the Georgia Dome.

"There are always difficult projects," he told reporters before Sunday's Falcons Cowboys game. "When you're going through a project like this, you have to balance a lot of issues. They're financial. They're also making sure you find a solution that works in the community and works with the team."
The Falcons are seeking partial public funding for the project. If approved, the hotel-motel tax would contribute $300 million to the costs. The Falcons would cover the rest.
The Falcons would also get to keep revenues as operators of the new stadium under current plans.

The plans would also guarantee the Falcons stay in Atlanta for another 30 years.
