Pedestrian killed on Camp Creek

ATLANTA -- A female pedestrian was struck and killed in a multi-car accident on Camp Creek Parkway Monday morning.

The Georgia Department of Transportation confirmed the pedestrian was hit after getting out of her car near Welcome All Road shortly after 7 a.m.

Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright said the woman, whose name was not released, hit a car that was trying to turn onto Welcome All Road, pushing it into the woods.

The woman got out of her car to check on the other driver and was hit by a BMW and killed, Wright said. The driver who hit her stayed on the scene.

The driver of the first car hit was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Eastbound lanes of Camp Creek Parkway are blocked as police investigate the wreck.
