NEW YORK (AP) - Ed Koch is getting a subway station in Manhattan named after him.
The former New York City mayor died Friday of congestive heart failure at age 88.
Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney will join officials on Monday to announce that the station at East 77th Street and Lexington Avenue will be re-named "Mayor Ed Koch subway station." Maloney says Koch called it his favorite stop, where he often campaigned.
Officials have introduced legislation in the Council to rename the station in honor of the quintessential New Yorker whose funeral is set for Monday.
Former President Bill Clinton will speak during the morning service at Manhattan's Temple Emanu-El.
Mourners will also hear about Koch's other fierce loyalty: Israel. The Israeli consul general is set to speak, along with New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
